We get asked to review business cards from time to time. This is an opportunity to take what’s good and what’s not so good about the existing business card and create a fresh new layout with more impact.
Our blog image shows our latest REVAMP for Stantone Mechanical Handling Ltd from Northampton.
Why waste the space on the back of a business card?
Their existing business card was only printed on one side – I just don’t see the point of this as it can be used to carry useful service and product messages to help improve the customers’ first impression of you and your business. Why waste the space?
Don’t let graphics overpower what’s important on a business card.
You will notice that the original card carries a “swoosh like” image which adds a bit of movement. Whilst we liked this, we felt it was too dominant and detracted from the logo and name on the business card.
We also felt that the contact information was condensed into a small area where too many type sizes were being used.
The new business card design carries a simple rectangular area that is reflected on the reverse of the card as well. To the front we used white out text on red to make the name and contact details stand out and on the reverse used the same shaped space to hold 3 key partner logos.
One very small change we made was to complement the logo with a slightly different typeface. The original card used the same family of type as used for the logo which we felt diluted the logo’s personality.
Remember, a REVAMPED business card can change the way you are perceived in the market place.
So, with some straightforward design alterations, along with a switch to a 400gsm weighted silk board and use of a clear coat varnish, we have changed the legibility, style and finish of the card.
What do you think to the finished result? If you like what you see, perhaps we can help you by reviewing your business cards and other promotional products too.
If you are based locally, in Wellingborough, Kettering, Corby or Northampton, we are more than happy to drop by and discuss any of your future projects and show you a sample or two.
